Found Poetry

Found poetry takes existing text — instruction manuals, legal documents, spam emails — and presents it as poetry. The poet does not write; they select and frame.

The frame as meaning

Found poetry makes the point that framing is meaning. The same text in a legal document and on a poetry page is experienced differently. The frame changes everything — the attention, the expectations, the way the reader processes the words.

The Archive as framing project

The Archive's books are a framing project: the word 'ew' existed before the book. The book gives it a frame — 261 pages, a cover, a spine, an ISBN. The frame is the work. This connects the Archive to the conceptual art tradition of Duchamp and the found poetry tradition of Burroughs and beyond.
